- These patterns can be made in four sizes: 4’x4 ($225), 3’x3′ ($150), 2’x2′ ($125) and 18″x18″ ($65).
- The larger sizes are perfect for the barn, shed or peak of the house. The smaller sizes are perfect for the front porch, shed or gate. They all can go indoors too!
- Some patterns are made to be hung “square”, some “on point”, some “either way”.
- All patterns and sizes are “available” but not all are always in stock. If it is in stock and you intend to pick it up we will arrange a day and time; if you choose to have it shipped (United State address only) , it will arrive in about a week. If I need to paint it, allow 3-4 weeks.
- When you order through the “SHOP” tab you can choose to have the barn quilt SHIPPED TO YOUR UNITED STATES ADDRESS by UPS Ground, or by PICK UP at my studio. If having it shipped, the price of the barn quilt is the same, but your total cost is higher to cover boxing, taxes (Ohio residents) and shipping. You will be paying by credit card through secure Pay Pal. There are 2 pages to view to find your choice.
- If you order through the form on the bottom of the “CONTACT” tab, you are choosing to PICK UP the barn quilt at my studio in Oregonia, Ohio (near Lebanon Ohio, North of Cincinnati- see the contact tab for a map). You avoid the boxing and shipping costs. Ohio residents still incur sales tax. A 50% DEPOSIT is required (major credit card by phone 513-310-3861). You will pay the remainder plus Ohio tax when you pick it up. You will need to tell me the pattern, size and colors (if applicable).
- When picking up any size barn quilt at my studio be sure to bring a blanket to wrap it in. When picking up a 3’x3′ or 4’x4′ size be sure to bring a van or pickup, two large blankets and tie-downs for the pickup.
Each barn quilt pattern shown below has a story of its own. Be sure to read the background on each pattern below. I’ll be adding new ones frequently, so check back often! Retired patterns are still available upon request and can be seen on the Customer Photos tabs.
I just love the history of fabric quilt patterns and they convert so well to barn quilts. Many patterns go back to the 1800’s and are a part of national history. I hope you enjoy their history as much as I do. Some of the patterns are just plain fun!
OHIO STAR BARN QUILT
The Ohio Star pattern is a simple “9 Patch” quilt block pattern where 4 of the blocks are further divided into triangles making an 8 pointed star. It is made in bright red, white and blue. The pattern has been in use on fabric quilts since 1803 when Ohio became the 17th state of this great nation! There is much discussion among historians about the actual date in which Ohio became a state, after all the fledgling nation was still trying to figure out how to allow new territories into the newly founded More Perfect Union. AMERICAN FLAG BARN QUILT
There have been many folk art variations of the American Flag designed. This one is my own design and has been trademarked. These pattern reflects our patriotism and our cherished American values, and I would love to make one for you! This one is a salute to the Armed Forces made in bright red, white and blue with 5 small stars in the lower right corner representing the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard.
As we all know, Betsy Ross first designed the flag for George Washington in 1776-1777 but did you know that according to legend she allegedly finalized the design, arguing for stars with five points (Washington had suggested six) because the cloth could be folded and cut out with a single snip? UNITED STATES AIR FORCE
I was asked to make this for a retired United States Air Force veteran. I love the way it turned out in bright red, white and blue. What a nice gift for an active duty family or veteran. I DO use stick-on USAF lettering and a stick-on bumper sticker logo for this pattern They are covered with multiple layers of clear coat for good adhesion. This is only available in the 18″ size.
MARINER’S STAR BARN QUILT
A Mariner’s Compass is my all-time favorite design in two shades of red, green and blue. My most treasured fabric quilt is a Mariner’s Compass from the mid 1800’s. The design is comprised of a star that radiates from the center and usually has 16 points, like a magnetic compass. It is one of the earliest quilting designs in America dating back to the early 1700’s. It is sometimes called a wind rose or compass rose. The first known quilt using this pattern was made in England in 1726 and was later used by women in the “colonies” along the Atlantic seaboard. The Mariner’s Star is made with points in blues, reds and greens on a white background with blue borders.
